These young ladies joined the family as egg-layers and companions at the end of March 2008 when they were 11.5 weeks old.

06/26/2008 – These girls are now 5.5 months old. No eggs yet, but I expect they’ll start laying anytime. They’ve grown so much! I’m feeding them a combination of commercial grower and my own mix of grains and such right now. Once they start laying, I plan to eliminate the commercial grower formula and go strictly to a feed of my own design. I received wonderful insight into proper nutrition for chickens via several websites and a couple of Yahoo groups (Chickens101 and OrganicChickens). Since there are no good feeds available in my area, I’m making my own.
