PET EDUCATIONAL FLYERS
These flyers are a joint effort that a friend and I have ventured out on to help pet owners educate themselves. Her site contains photo image posters that are included in these flyers, as well as many more that are not represented on the flyers at this time. The purpose and intent of these flyers is to help raise awareness of the hazards lurking out there for pets. Feel free to download and distribute these flyers to any and all you think may benefit from them. Speak for those who can’t speak for themselves! [These flyers require Adobe Reader.]
Look for the “NEW!!!” to see which flyers have been added recently and when they were added.

This study is being performed under the supervision of the University of Texas.
“In this study, we are trying to
get an initial glimpse at the different components of canine personality --
e.g, friendliness, fearfulness, aggression -- and how specific behaviors are
revealing of those components. We are NOT attempting to create profiles of
breed personalities. We may, in the future, look at the differences
between breeds. First, however, we need to understand the components of
canine personality. Then, we will need to validate our questionnaire by
using dogs' scores on the questionnaire to predict their behavior in other
temperament tests.
Because we are attempting to see how different behaviors relate to each other,
there are many questions in our questionnaire, and some of them appear to
repeat. None of the questions are exactly the same. Those that appear
to repeat are not present to try to "trick" you or to see if you are
consistent in how you describe your dog! They are there because sometimes
what seems like a minute detail (e.g., the sex of a dog your dog interacts
with) has a huge impact on your dog's behavior. We thank you ahead of time
for reading through and thinking through each question, then answering it to
the best of your ability.
The questionnaire can be found and completed at the following web address: http://survey.psy.utexas.edu/API/Dogs/dpq.php
The questionnaire takes 30-45 minutes to complete. For people with more
than one dog, the questionnaire will randomly select a dog for you to tell us
about.
We hope that you will enjoy completing the questionnaire, as many participants
reported during pilot testing.
If you have any questions, concerns, or problems, don't hesitate to e-mail me.
We can add specific breeds. If you are looking for something in
particular, please let me know and we’ll try to accommodate you.”
If you have questions about the questionnaire or the study, please contact Amanda Jones.
NOTE from this website’s owner: I completed this survey myself. I also completed the extra questionnaire, which includes 17 questions regarding diet, vaccinations, vet care, and such. I encourage all of you who share your lives with dogs to complete the questionnaire. It’s worth the time! Incidentally, I am not associated with this organization or study in any way. As a trainer, I’m a firm believer in behavioral research. The better we understand our canine companions, the better we can make their lives.
